Benemax Teams Up With UK’S Leagold Miller To Smooth
Employee Health Benefits for Multinational Employers

MEDFIELD, Mass.—July 15, 2003—Benemax, a fast-growing employee benefit management company specializing in consumer-directed health plans and Leagold Miller, a full service UK brokerage founded over 100 years ago, have joined forces to provide health insurance and other benefits to employers with operations in both the US and the UK.

Understanding and navigating the US health insurance and health care systems can be confusing for Britons accustomed to the UK’s National Health Service. Similarly, US employers with employees in London or Glasgow for example, need to know how private medical insurance fits in a healthcare delivery system dominated by the NHS.

“Leagold Miller is the ideal partner for Benemax,” said David Cowles, executive vice president, Benemax. “Together, we assure multinational employers a coordinated approach to affordable health and other benefits. In addition to enabling both firms to better serve their growing international business clientele,
this partnership builds on the companies’ creative, value-oriented approach to employee benefits and their commitment to concierge-level customer service.”

In the UK, Leagold Miller’s expertise will guide US employers through the NHS and options for supplemental private medical insurance. In turn, Benemax will tailor benefit plans for the US subsidiaries of UK parent companies.

“Benemax and Leagold Miller both offer personalized, individual services for clients’ complex employee benefits requirements,” said Barry Marks, managing director, Leagold Miller. “Our clients who have large subsidiaries and hundreds of employees in the US need health insurance that works everywhere. New concepts and practices are called for, and that is what we and Benemax deliver. We see this partnership as an exciting opportunity to provide a higher level of service in a market dominated by narrowly focused, impersonal firms.”

Although Leagold Miller was founded in the 1890s and Benemax in the 1970s, the two firms have a similar philosophy and clientele, Cowles notes. “Neither is bound by tradition when coming up with the best value coverage options for our customers,” he said. “We are both independent and able to tap the entire market in our efforts to structure affordable, comprehensive benefit plans.”
