Benemax Co-founder David Cowles
Named to Advisory Board For Consumer-Directed Health Care Conference
MEDFIELD, Mass.—March 18, 2004—David Cowles, a health plan innovator and pioneer of consumer-directed health plans, has been named to the advisory board of the Consumer Directed Health Plan Conference & Expo (CDHCC). Cowles, a co-founder and executive vice president of benefit management firm Benemax, joins the prestigious board having participated as a speaker for the past two years at the national conference for employers, providers and insurers exploring the rapidly growing consumer directed health care trend.

“We have a common commitment to reforming the American health system by introducing free market economics to the health care industry,” Cowles says. “In a sense, this year’s conference marks the graduation of consumer-directed health plans from a marketing concept to a social policy.”

Cowles was chosen for his expertise and extensive experience with consumer-directed health plans, which he first introduced as a cost-saving measure to his business customers in 1985 and has since championed.

“We were seeking industry experts to address many of these issues, and Dave’s thought leadership contributes immensely to the national debate on how to make health care affordable for employers,” said Skip Brickley, CEO of CDHCC conference organizer The Emergent Group. The conference will be held March 29-31, 2004 in Las Vegas
