MEDFIELD, Mass.— David Cowles, founding Partner and Executive Vice-President of Benemax – The Benefits Management Company – will speak at The Cambridge Network & The British Consulate’s Transatlantic Discussion on the efficiency of current and developing health care plans. This discussion will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, November 27th, at the British Consulate in Cambridge MA. At this year’s event, Mr. Cowles will be joined by fellow speakers James Barlow (Professor at Imperial College, UK Health Policy) and Alan Smith (CSO at Genzyme, Global Producer of Pharmaceuticals). These notable speakers will take a closer look at how recent health care reforms imposed by both the US government and the UK Parliament, have affected, and will affect, changing consumer health care options. Primarily responsible for the creation of new Consumer Direct Health Care (CDHC) plan designs, Mr. Cowles is considered to be an expert on how CDHC plans can provide consumers with affordable benefits without compromising benefit quality. In fact, he pioneered this health benefit model in 1985. Mr. Cowles has presented Benemax’s CDHC plans and cost effective business solutions to national and international audiences, showing how these plans apply to the rapidly changing US health care system. “At the same time that the US considers a larger role for government in the provision of health benefits, many European countries are searching for ways to stimulate more involvement by citizens and employers. While government certainly has a role to play, issues of health and productivity can ultimately be resolved only by responsible individuals and employers,” says Cowles.
